Primary School Programme "With Stylus, Brush, or Quill: Writing in the Cultures of the World"
Started in 2023, this programme of the Center for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC) / Cluster of Excellence “Understanding Written Artefacts” introduces primary-school students to the cultural diversity of writing. Across multiple sessions offered on-site at the school, students explore different scripts, historically and culturally specific writing tools and materials, and the role that writing and written artefacts play in people’s everyday lives. The programme fosters intercultural competence and supports children in the process of learning to write.
