University of São Paulo
The University of São Paulo (USP) is the biggest university in Brazil and Latin America, with over 90,000 students and approximately 6,000 lecturers. It has 11 campuses: 4 are located in the city of São Paulo, and the remaining 7 are spread throughout the state of São Paulo. USP was founded in 1934, resulting from the merger of a number of Brazilian universities.
It is not only the largest university but also the most prestigious educational institution in Latin America. USP graduates hold important positions in Brazilian society and industry. USP alone produces almost a quarter of all academic publications by Brazilian researchers.
USP and Universität Hamburg have been in a strategic partnership since 2018, which includes student exchanges and joint research projects. Universität Hamburg supports the cooperation with USP with various funding programs.
