Indiana University

Established in 1820, Indiana University (IU) is one of the world’s foremost public institutions—and the epitome of the modern university. It is located in the mid-western United States with two flagship campuses in Bloomington and Indianapolis, as well as seven regional campuses across the state. IU boasts a strong network of over 94,000 students and 21,000 employees, as well as over 690,000 living alumni worldwide.

 IU has long believed in a commitment to an international dimension of education, with nearly 200 years of global engagement. The original partnership agreement with Universität Hamburg was signed by President John Ryan and Rector Peter Fischer-Appelt on July 25, 1977.

The partnership spans multiple faculties and disciplines at both IU and Universität Hamburg. Researchers have been connecting for more than 40 years through a standing exchange program (IU-UHH research exchange).
