Conditions
To start a video chat, both you and the examiner need the necessary technical infrastructure: an internet-enabled device, a stable internet connection, access software, such as video conferencing systems, a webcam, and a microphone or headset.
Legal questions must be clarified (more details in the Legal section).
The person being examined must authenticate themselves before the conversation.
A neutral supervisor is required.
Providers
At the University of Hamburg, you can conduct your oral exam using several video conferencing tools. Here, we briefly introduce three of them.
Teams
Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that combines chat, phone, video conferencing, and other functions. The service is available to all students and staff at the University of Hamburg as part of the Office 365 license.

Zoom is the most well-known video conferencing system, characterized by its intuitive usability. However, since the servers, like those of Teams, are located in the USA, data protection is very limited.
