DL-Network
Introduction to the Network:
The University of Hamburg has established a university-wide cooperative network of facilities, with staff members focusing on digital teaching and learning (DL).
Objective of the Network:
The aim of the network is to leverage individual competencies and create synergies to further optimize service offerings and support processes, thereby ensuring a common standard of performance quality. A significant aspect of this initiative is the connection of DL facilities with both internal and external partners.
Support for Digital Media:
The DL network at the University of Hamburg promotes and supports the use and further integration of digital media and digital methods throughout the university.
If you have specific questions about the DL network or need further details, feel free to ask!
The following objectives are at the center of our collaborative work:
- Promotion of the competencies of educators and students in designing digital or hybrid learning environments through a target group-oriented consulting, training, and qualification program.
- xpansion of didactic design options in teaching, supervision, collaboration, and examinations.
- Support for time- and location-independent as well as accessible teaching and learning through the provision of modern online learning systems and complementary tools that meet user needs.
- Further development of exercise and examination practices using digital tools.
- Consultation for management in the faculties, central units, and the executive board.
- Promotion of cross-university and international digital teaching offerings.
- Advancement of research at the University of Hamburg through support for eScience projects.
Formation:
The network of digital teaching and learning (DL) facilities at the University of Hamburg was established as part of the eLearning structural project eLBase1 (2008–2011) in collaboration with the participating faculties and the central eLearning office associated with the Vice President for Teaching. Subsequently, corresponding DL facilities were set up across all faculties. Additionally, the demands for supportive and structural measures at the central level continued to grow. As a result, the initial responsibilities of the central eLearning office have now been distributed among the Digital Office, the Hamburg Center for University Teaching and Learning (HUL), and the newly formed Department 32 - Campus Management - within the Presidential Administration.
This development resulted in a central-decentralized structure characterized by a strong connection to the instructors and students at individual faculties and facilities, taking into account their specific disciplinary requirements.
