Avoidance of Cues
Cues are inadvertently placed clues that help respondents answer selection questions.
To avoid such cues, you should try to:
- Formulate responses in a grammatically correct way so that they fit the stem.
- Use responses of the same length.
- Avoid verbal associations.
- Refrain from using absolute terms like "always," "all," or "exclusively."
- Avoid planting hints in other questions.
- Order the answers logically or alphabetically.
- Ensure the correct answer is not only placed in positions C and D.
- Make sure the correct answer does not have the most elements in common with the other answers.
