Strategic networks
To build upon its strategic networks, Universität Hamburg—University of Excellence has created different funding lines.
Next Generation Partnerships—Workshops and Conferences
The Next Generation Partnership—Workshops and Conferences funding line supports the development and expansion of multilateral networks. Workshops and conferences with multiple partner universities are eligible.
Next Generation Partnerships—Thematic Networks funding line
The Next Generation Partnerships—Thematic Networks funding line supports doctoral and early career researchers who have projects that contribute to the development of a sustainable partnership and that should facilitate a long-term, externally funded project.
PhD Connect funding line
The PhD Connect funding line uses Excellence Strategy funds to support the organization of virtual and hybrid colloquia in conjunction with international partner institutions with subsequent research stays of up to 2 months at Universität Hamburg for doctoral researchers from partner institutions.
Visiting Fellow Program funding line
The Visiting Fellow Program uses Excellence Strategy funding to support research stays of up to 2 months for international researchers invited by Universität Hamburg researchers, for the purposes of preparing an Alexander von Humboldt application.
Funding line Innovative Teaching and Learning Formats
The ILLF funding line from the Department of International Affairs supports teaching and learning formats in cooperation with international partner universities. In particular, virtual and blended teaching and learning formats, which are carried out in cooperation with strategic partner universities and potential partners, receive funding from the Excellence Strategy. The joint virtual learning experiences provide students at the University of Hamburg and its partner universities with opportunities to gain valuable international and intercultural experience without having to travel. At the same time, they strengthen and cultivate cooperation between the University and its strategic and potential partners.
Funding line International Marketing for Core Research Areas
This funding line aims to increase the international visibility of the clusters of excellence and attract more international researchers. It includes central marketing activities overseen by the University Administration as well as profile-specific international marketing measures developed and implemented in the core research areas and clusters of excellence. Funding will be provided for the participation in conferences, events and activities abroad, and international media measures, among others.
