A new funding line allows researchers at Universität Hamburg to develop virtual teaching and learning formats with international partner universities. Students can also gain international experience without going abroad.
The new funding line Internationale Lehr- und Lernformate @home makes it possible, for example, for future geography teachers to exchange with students at Université Paris Cité. They want to compare school instruction in Germany and France: How are lessons prepared? How are they conducted? What topics do school textbooks focus on?
"Cooperation is intended to foster self-reflection among students. When they see how something is done in a different country, they also question their own methods," says Prof. Dr. Sandra Sprenger from the Faculty of Education. The professor of geography teaching is offering the project International Digital Cooperation in Teacher Training in Geography. She is also excited to see the results of the comparison. At the same time, she is optimistic that the project will deepen the partnership with the Paris university and may even lead to attracting new international partners.
Three projects will receive funding in the first funding round. Criminal law scholar and criminologist Prof. Dr. Aziz Epik has initiated the series Introduction to International Criminal Law with the Università di Bologna while the physicist Prof. Dr. Christian Bressler is cooperating with Aarhus University to set up the project X-Ray Free Electron Lasers: A Combined Virtual Lab and Real-Lab Experience of European XFEL.
