Objective
The University of Hamburg introduces new degrees to expand its academic programs, meet its development objectives, and enhance the research profiles of its faculties.
The University of Hamburg and the participating universities are expanding their academic programs by introducing new teacher training degrees and degree components. Thus, these universities can reach their goal of qualifying students for all possible school subjects, types of schools, and school levels.
Procedure
Quality assurance in the introduction of degree programs involves reviewing defined criteria (PDF, in German only) as well as subsequent evaluation of the degree program concept by external evaluators.
The certification commission for teacher education or the certification commission for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs decides whether to award certification.

Quality criteria for the advancement of teacher training degrees
