Declaration of consent with data protection and privacy explanation pursuant to Article 13 of the GDPR
The registration and subscription to the newsletter is part of the MIN För Hamburg project. MIN För Hamburg is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the scope of the Campus Initiative internationale Fachkräfte and is part of the FIT: Förderung internationaler Talente zur Integration in Studium und Arbeitsmarkt program. The MIN För Hamburg project runs from 2024 to 2028.
If you would like to take part, you need to consent to the processing of personal data.

Information on data protection pursuant to Article 13 GDPR

2. Purpose and legal basis for data processing
The University of Hamburg will use your data exclusively for the following purposes:
Conduct of the MIN För Hamburg project
The MIN För Hamburg project is designed to provide international students with support from their first contact with the University of Hamburg through their studies, graduation, and first steps on the labor market.
As part of the project, personal data is collected via the registration form and further processed. The following data is collected:
First and last name
Gender
Status
Change of status within the reporting year
Nationality
Country of higher education entrance qualification
Academic degree aspired to
Subject group of the desired degree
Subject of the desired degree
Subject of the desired degree (especially for teaching degree)
Language of study
Participation in courses in the reporting years (2024 - 2028)
The data is collected as part of the reporting duties to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as the project’s funding body to account for the use of project funds.
For verification processes, and in accordance with the funding agreement agreed between the University of Hamburg and DAAD, the data will be stored for 5 years beyond the duration of the project.
This processing is lawful on the basis of your consent in accordance with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a GDPR, in conjunction with Article 9 paragraph 2 letter a GDPR.
3. Recipient / categories of recipients
Your data will be transmitted pseudonymized to the DAAD as part of the reporting duties for proof of funds. In addition, the DAAD is obliged by its own evidentiary and reporting duties to send your pseudonymized personal data to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as a funding provider as well as to an external auditor commissioned by the BMBF and/or the federal audit office (Bundesrechnungshof).
4. Duration of data storage
Your data will be deleted once the processing purpose has been achieved, by 31 March 2033 at the latest. If you revoke your consent (see Part 2 below) to processing, your data will be deleted once your notification has been received by the University of Hamburg.
5. Your rights
You have the following rights:
a. Voluntariness
Participation in the project is voluntary. You cannot be forced or pressured to declare or maintain your consent.
b. Right to withdraw consent
You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect and without observing any formal requirements. Upon receipt of withdrawal of your consent, your data may no longer continue to be processed and must be deleted immediately if there is no other legal basis for their processing. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent prior to its withdrawal.
c. Right to information
You have a right to information from the Controller pursuant to Article 15 GDPR.
d. Right to rectification
You may request that the Controller rectify any inaccurate data pursuant to Article 16 GDPR.
e. Deletion
You have the right to have your personal data and information deleted by the Controller—that is, “the right to be forgotten” pursuant to Article 17 GDPR.
f. Restriction of processing
You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data pursuant to Article 18 GDPR.
g. Right to data portability
You have the right to demand from those responsible that your personal data be transferred pursuant to Article 20 GDPR.

In addition, you have the right to right to lodge a complaint with the state data protection officer of a supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data (Article 77 GDPR). The Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HmbBfDI) is responsible for the University of Hamburg.
