MIN För Hamburg

The MIN-Studium international project: Förderung für den Hamburger Arbeitsmarkt—MIN För Hamburg for short—is aimed at international degree-seeking students studying at the departments of informatics, mathematics, physics, and teacher training at the University of Hamburg.

It is designed to provide potential international students with support from their first contact with the University of Hamburg through their studies, graduation, and first steps on the labor market. The project is divided into 4 modules:

FIT for arriving in Hamburg

After enrollment, we provide students with assistance and information about traveling to Germany, applying for a visa, looking for accommodation, networking, and studying in Germany.

FIT for your studies

Subject-specific language courses in German and English (e.g., German for starting your studies), tutorials for students to share their experiences of studying in Hamburg, workshops on living and studying in a foreign country, and much more.

FIT for the job market

This module prepares students specifically for the German job market. It includes language courses for starting work, as well as training for interviews or different types of work culture in German companies, a mentoring program, and information about residency regulations and permits after graduation.

FIT networks

The last module aims to link international students with potential employers and international University of Hamburg alumni. Networking opportunities, alumni events, and mentoring provide an opportunity to communicate with companies in Hamburg to making it easier to start a career.

MIN För Hamburg is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the Campus Initiative internationale Fachkräfte. MIN För Hamburg is part of the FIT: Förderung internationaler Talente zur Integration in Studium und Arbeitsmarkt project which runs from 2024–2028.
