Scholarships for students going abroad

Universität Hamburg—University of Excellence supports doctoral researchers who wish to realize a part of their studies or dissertation at a top international university. To do so, it awards outgoing scholarships and grants every year. Since February 2021, digital formats have also been funded due to travel restrictions enforced through the coronavirus pandemic.

In January 2020, the economist Tizian Otto (27) went to New York to work on his dissertation thanks to funding from the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, he experienced the city in a state of emergency.
