Information about dialogue-oriented service procedure (DoSV) degree programs without admission restrictions
DoSV degree programs without admission restrictions
If you submit several applications via the DoSV and at least one of these applications is for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions, observe the information below.
Only one application via the DoSV
If you apply for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions and do not submit any further applications via the DoSV, you do not need to observe any further requirements. As soon as Universität Hamburg’s ranking lists have been published, you will automatically be admitted; the 7-day enrollment period will begin once we have posted your acceptance letter on our application portal (STiNE). Several DoSV applications during the coordination phase
As soon as Universität Hamburg’s ranking lists have been published, admission offers will automatically be made for all correctly completed applications punctually submitted for DoSV degree programs without admission restrictions.
Case A If you have chosen “Priority 1” in your application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions, you will automatically receive an admission offer once the ranking lists have been published, and, in accordance with the coordinated succession rules, lower-priority applications will be withdrawn automatically.
Case B If you have chosen “Priority 2” or lower in your application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions, you will receive an offer of admission. If you subsequently receive an admission offer for another application with a higher priority, the first application (above) is rendered invalid because an admission offer has been made for a higher priority.
Case C If no further admission offer for another application with a higher priority has been made at the end of the coordination phase, the admission offer for the DoSV degree program without admission restrictions will automatically be converted into admission and all other applications will be rendered invalid.
Important: If the application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions is a backup application (in case an application for a higher priority is not successful), remember that you will be admitted for this backup application at the end of the coordination phase and all other applications become invalid. This means that other applications are no longer considered in the coordinated succession procedure because the DoSV permits admission to only one program.
Example: If, for example, you wish to study psychology and submit another backup application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions (perhaps because it is not clear whether your higher education entrance eligibility grade or the waiting period is sufficient), the application for psychology will automatically become invalid at the end of the coordination phase if you are not accepted in the initial selection procedure. This means that the application for psychology can no longer be considered in the coordinated succession procedure, in which otherwise admission may be possible. Thus, carefully consider whether you wish to pursue such an application strategy.
Note: If you have applied for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions but want to submit an application for a DoSV degree program with admission restrictions through the coordinated succession procedure, you should withdraw your application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions during the coordination phase so that you are not admitted and that your other application is transferred to the coordinated succession procedure.
Lottery applications in the coordination succession procedure
If you submit a lottery application for a DoSV degree program without admission restrictions in the coordinated succession procedure, you will automatically be admitted. If applicable, other applications become invalid.Important: If there is another application in the coordinated succession procedure and you then submit a lottery application for a degree program without admission restrictions, the first application becomes invalid.
