Admission procedure
What happens after the application deadline?
The application deadline marks the beginning of Universität Hamburg's admission procedure. Acceptance and rejection letters are sent out as soon as all admission applications have been processed.
I have missed the application period! Can I still be admitted?
Places remaining after the admission period will be published on www.uni-hamburg.de/restplaetze. This is your only option for gaining a place on a degree program outside of the official application round. Places are open to everyone, regardless of any prior applications.
Selection criteria
For information on the selection and admission procedure, quotas, and criteria for study place allocation, please select the appropiate category: first-year applicants, higher subject semester applicants, Hauptstudium applicants, master's degree program applicants.
How to find out whether you have been accepted
Once the application has expired, please check your STiNE account regularly in order to avoid missing your acceptance letter.
How do I know if I have been accepted or rejected?
On the dates indicated we will send the result of the admission procedure to the email address stated in your online application. The acceptance or rejection letters are also available in your STiNE account in the section "Dokumente."
It is important that you ensure in advance that you have your personal access data ready. Please remember that you had to change your original password upon logging in for the first time. Thus the original password emailed to you is no longer valid. Please contact the STiNE line if you encounter any problems in accessing your account.
What to do when I have been rejected
If you did not receive an offer of admission, please read our special instructions detailed in your rejection letter.
