Teaching Quality Pact
Bridges to the University – Pathways to Academia
Since the beginning of 2012, the Universitätskolleg, a university-wide project, has been receiving funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the Teaching Quality Pact.
Under the title "Bridges to the University - Pathways to Academia," the Universitätskolleg provides a conceptual, institutional and administrative framework for a multitude of projects devoted to the transition from school or a job to university study and the cultivation of skills required for academic pursuit.
There are over forty projects offering academic orientation, academic assistance for target groups and independent study skills. The Universitätskolleg pools activities in the individual schools and interdisciplinary projects on these and other topics and cooperates with the Center for a Sustainable University. Furthermore, the Zeit-Stiftung and the Joachim Herz Stiftung provide start-up financing or total funding for several projects.
Pathbreaking ideas
Universität Hamburg is optimistic that the Universitätskolleg will contribute to the improvement of studying and teaching, particularly in the early stage of a new student's academic career, inspiring new ideas on the path towards becoming a sustainable university.
In the future, the Universitätskolleg will also offer a "general studies" program to provide students with a common academic foundation for all subjects.
