The Have we met? events are a regular, interactive lunchtime format during which departments, sections, units, faculties, and central institutions introduce themselves and their services and answer questions. The events allow you to gain insights into the work in different departments at Universität Hamburg.

Discover the diverse working environments at our university with our “Change of Perspective” program! In this program, all employees of the University of Hamburg have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the working world of a colleague from another area for one to three days in order to promote internal exchange and understanding of the different tasks. You can register as a host or guest.

Work Shadowing

Work shadowing allows you to familiarize yourself with other areas of work at the University by looking over a colleague’s shoulder for 1–2 weeks. You can learn more about different areas and thus act with greater confidence while interacting with them in the future, for example, and explore whether an area that interests you actually fits with your career aspirations. Work shadowing also encourages networking between people working in different areas.

Are you currently employed at Universität Hamburg part-time? The cover pool allows you to temporarily increase your workload by taking on additional work in another area and familiarizing yourself with other areas of work in the process. You can broaden your range of tasks, explore future areas of work, and develop an important network for exchanges in this way.

The Lunch-Lottery or virtual coffee breaks take place at Universität Hamburg at regular intervals. These events allow you to get to know the University and your colleagues in an entirely different way. Participants are randomly divided into small groups of 3–4 people for the face-to-face / virtual exchange.
