As the HR development department of Universität Hamburg, we accompany you throughout your professional development. Whether you wish to advance in your current position or to switch to another role, we support you on your journey.
A career evolves from the combination of your professional background, different professional tasks and requirements, and experience as well as your personality and individual values. It is not the result of one single decision but rather involves a dynamic process that develops and changes over the course of your professional life.
We accompany you during this process so that you can make the right decisions for your career. With the career development cycle, we help you clarify your goals, plan how you mean to achieve these, further yourself, and advance in your career. Professional goals can relate to either your current position or a future role.
The career development cycle comprises five areas:
- Reflect - Clarify your personal interests, values, skills, and motivation.
- Explore - Explore fields of activity and familiarize yourself with new areas.
- Define - Define your professional goals and plan the next steps.
- Qualify - Refresh and expand your knowledge and skills.
- Implement - Work towards achieving your goals and apply all you have learned.
Depending where you are in your career, you can select the best step for you and decide which of our various offers you would like to take advantage of. You can, for example, get started with a thought-provoking topic or engage in an intensive exchange with other staff during workshops.
