Membrane proteins are key players in the maintenance of cellular homeostasis and intracellular communication and are therefore important drug targets. The project “Movement and Mechanism of Molecular Machines in Membranes” (MoMa) will bring together academics from both universities from diverse scientific backgrounds with the aim of building a strong multi-lateral collaboration in membrane protein structural biology. Facilitating the networking and interactions of the wider membrane protein structural biology community at each partner, the project is a starting point for long-term plans to generate external funding for research in functionally relevant protein dynamics, from the single-molecule level to ensembles.
