Studium Generale

Universität Hamburg—University of Excellence is expanding its Studium Generale. Since Winter Semester 2019/20, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education have joined the Faculty of Humanities in offering students extensive transdisciplinary opportunities.  

The goal is to anchor cross-disciplinary courses in the elective areas of all bachelor’s degree programs, helping students hone their critical thinking skills and general knowledge.

Element: Visiting scholars in the Studium Generale

To build up the Studium Generale, the University of Excellence brings outstanding researchers to Hamburg every semester.

Element: Support and funding for interdisciplinary teaching teams for the Studium Generale

The University of Excellence promotes interdisciplinary teaching teams. These teams consist of at least 2 teaching staff from different fields who develop an innovative teaching format together.

What is Ethics in the Natural Sciences Context?

As a University of Excellence, Universität Hamburg is again encouraging the formation of interdisciplinary teaching teams in 2023, to jointly develop an innovative teaching format. One of the four funded seminars will put ethical issues under the microscope as part of the Studium Generale.

Developing a Critical Eye for Exhibitions
