Nucleus professors

Since Universität Hamburg has been designated a University of Excellence, it has been able to appoint 6 nucleus professors. These leading researchers form the core of important University research areas. Their appointments strengthen Universität Hamburg’s research profile and their research alliances and they should facilitate the development of new Clusters of Excellence.

Large Majority of Businesses Put Sustainability Front and Center

Businesses are working full steam ahead to gather data about their sustainability and climate footprint. Sixty-seven percent see an opportunity to further develop their own organization. However, only about a third of these companies feel ready for their new obligations. These are the findings of the Sustainability Transformation Monitor 2024.

Universität Hamburg Publishes Climate Protection Report for 2019–2022

The report follows on the heels of the University’s sustainability report (2015–2018). The climate protection report is based only on greenhouse gas emissions, not on the entire spectrum of sustainability. A comprehensive report on sustainability in research, teaching, knowledge exchange, and administration will be published in 2024.

The Centre for the Study of Health, Ethics, and Society was recently founded in the Faculty of Humanities. It fosters transdisciplinary cooperation in the areas of health, ethics, and society and will be headed by the nucleus professor Ulf Schmidt.
