Who profits from Universität Hamburg—University of Excellence measures? What funding measures are there and who can apply for funding? A new portal with explanatory videos and search engines provides guidance.
Thanks to Universität Hamburg’s status as a University of Excellence, students, researchers, and the general public benefit from the various measures being funded by the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments. The Fast Track program, for example, helps outstanding students who wish to pursue a doctorate immediately after completing their bachelor’s studies while the Advanced Fellowships program brings excellent visiting scholars and artists to Hamburg to live and do research.
You can follow developments at the University of Excellence on the new portal. The portal focuses on 20+ measures in the categories research, teaching, knowledge exchange, internationalization, and research infrastructure. The pages contain links to articles from Universität Hamburg’s Newsroom, enabling readers to trace the path the University of Excellence has tread so far.
Explanatory videos on Excellence Strategy topics
The portal contains videos that introduce the various Excellence Strategy topics. In the video on measures in the area of research, for example, Alissa Drees explains how the Fast Track program has supported her doctoral research on cystic fibrosis. She is a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Food Chemistry and one of the program’s first recipients.
The video on measures in the area of teaching provides some insight into a lecture on writing and the city. Student Annina Jaspers is attending the module offered in the Studium Generale. Stephan Porombka, a visiting scholar from the Berlin University of the Arts, explains the goals of his unusual course, which eschews the classroom for the streets of Hamburg.
Database facilitates funding source search
Students and researchers who wish to tap into the funding provided will find a comprehensive database of funding possibilities. You can search by target group, program, or application period. You can also use an index to find out when to apply and which documents need to be submitted.
And you can find information about networks between the University of Excellence and research institutions all over the world; what’s happening in the 4 clusters of excellence; and how the University shares findings with the general public. The topics are as manifold as the target groups are, so a look at the portal is definitely worth it!
