Term: 2023-2025
Medulloblastoma is the most frequent high-grade brain tumour of childhood and adolescence and an important contributor to brain tumour related mortality and morbidity. Multimodal therapy of medulloblastoma consists of combined surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is probably the most effective modality, which, however, has considerable toxicity for the developing brain.
The aim of this initiative is to establish a common research strategy to prove the efficacy of ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy in the treatment of medulloblastoma, since this irradiation method has been proven to better spare healthy tissue than conventional delivery, without decreasing the probability of tumour control.
