The Warburg Institute researches the continuing influence of classical antiquity in art history, the history of philosophy and literature, the history of political ideas, and the history of the natural sciences. Other research interests include Islam as a vehicle of ancient thought and historical musicology.
Fellowship aim
The fellowships funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg promote scholarly projects requiring study and research at the University of London’s Warburg Institute. They are granted to doctoral students and individuals working on their Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification) at Universität Hamburg. Projects with a broad cultural studies approach are particularly encouraged.
Funding duration and amount
Funding is granted for a period of six months OR twelve months. Monthly funding of €2,748 per month for a period of six months OR €1,374 per month for a period of one year is available. The travel expenses to/from the University of London as well as verifiable necessary travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
