Clusters of Excellence
4 Clusters of Excellence at Universität Hamburg from 2019
Universität Hamburg was awarded funding for 4 Clusters of Excellence in the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments. Since 2019, the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) will fund the following Clusters of Excellence:
- CUI: Advanced Imaging of Matter (photon and nanosciences)
- Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS) (climate research)
- Understanding Written Artefacts (manuscript research)
- Quantum Universe (mathematics, particle physics, astrophysics, cosmology)
2 Clusters of Excellence at Universität Hamburg until 2018
Universität Hamburg has 2 outstanding Clusters of Excellence in the Excellence Initiative of the Federal and State Governments. The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) has funded the Cluster of Excellence Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction (CliSAP), which investigates the climate system in the face of global climate change, since 2007. Since it was established in November 2012, the Cluster of Excellence Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging (CUI) has become an internationally recognized research center. It is seen as a nucleus of scientific development in research in the photon and nanosciences in Hamburg.
