Caregiving courses for family members
As a matter of course, many family members take on the task of caring for relatives at home for as long as possible. A variety of courses are offered to assist and support these family caregivers. In caregiving courses, trained personnel provide practical guidance, tips, and tricks for everyday life, and a wealth of general information. The courses can help improve the quality and safety of day-to-day caregiving, thus also benefiting care receivers. Moreover, course participants can, for example, learn to better cope with psychological and physical strain, share experiences with other caregivers, and seek advice on suitable resources. The courses are generally free of charge.
- Hamburg’s Ministry of Social Affairs has compiled a list of caregiving courses for relatives by Hamburg district (in German only).
- DIE ANGEHÖRIGENSCHULE – DAnS (family caregivers’ school) provides various forms of assistance for caregiving relatives and prospective caregivers. All volunteer caregivers or prospective volunteers are welcome! The extensive course program is also designed for all people who want to prepare for a care situation.
- The Hamburger Angehörigenschule (family caregivers’ school Hamburg) offers free advice and a comprehensive training program for groups.
