Our Multilingual Project Classes – And Their Final Class Projects
Building on the success of our Theater Project Classes, we’re continuing this experiment with more trilingual project classes focusing on other themes as well.
The idea of our multilingual project classes is to explore a topic in a mixed-language setting where participants communicate in English, French, and German throughout the class without necessarily speaking all of these three languages, and work together to create a final class project combining all three languages.
If you’re interested in how this project class format originated, check out the article, previous classes, and the final class projects on Theater Project Classes with a Multilingual Twist.

In this class, we will focus on debating and exploring the various national and international views on health, urban planning, nature and the environment, food distribution and consumption, success, and much more. Previous Project Classes and Their Final Projects
Winter 2023/24
Discussing Everyday Rituals and their Cultural Significance - Nous discutons des rituels quotidiens et de leur signification culturelle - Diskussion alltäglicher Rituale und ihrer kulturellen Bedeutung
This class will discuss the significance of daily rituals and traditions around the world and how they are seen in a cultural and sociological context. The theories of Emile Durkheim and Pierre Bourdieu will be used to direct our discussions. The focus is on improving your language skills through group exercises, discussions, coming up with projects, and communicating within the classroom in this trilingual setting.
As their final class project, the students created a video in which they are collecting and reflecting on cultural traditions in different countries where English, French, and German are spoken.
