University president Prof. Dr. Hauke Heekeren: “I am delighted that by taking part in the current CHE Ranking we are able to give prospective students some guidance when choosing a place to study. That our students see our libraries, academic organization, and IT infrastructure especially positively also especially delights me because these factors are vital when it comes to studying. We also see, however, where the ranking suggests room for improvement.”
The ranking looked at economics, socioeconomics, business informatics, business engineering, business administration, and law. In addition to factors such as the general academic situation, supervision from teaching staff, libraries, and IT infrastructure, results also included information from student and teaching staff surveys.
Overall, Universität Hamburg’s Department of Economics and the Department of Socioeconomics performed best. In particular, their curricula, academic organization, IT infrastructure, and libraries enjoyed especially positive feedback.
In the category “starting phase,” law, economics, business administration, socioeconomics, and business engineering ranked among the top groups. Law earned points for “examination preparation” and “doctoral thesis per professor.”
Business administration and economics topped in the rankings for “publications per professor.” Furthermore, business administration ranked towards the top for “degrees earned in a suitable amount of time.”
The CHE university ranking, which involves a survey of around 120,000 students, is considered the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in the German-speaking world. Results are published on HeyStudium and in the ZEIT degree program guide.
