On 11 July 2024, at 6 pm University of Hamburg and the Hector Fellow Academy invite interested audiences to a symposium on secrets of the human brain. The event takes place in the Main Building of the University (ESA 1), lecture hall A and will also be shown via livestream.
Babies and children are fast learners. They explore new things through play, and thereby develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills. This experience has a significant impact on their further development and lays the foundation for lifelong learning. But what brain mechanisms determine this? When, how, and where do humans best learn? And what are the consequences if children do not have ideal learning conditions?
Brigitte Röder, psychologist and neuroscientist at University of Hamburg, Sebastian Frank (University of Regensburg), Ileana Hanganu-Opatz (UKE), Thomas Elbert (University of Konstanz), and Martin Korte (TU Braunschweig) will join up to explain all this during a Night of Science. The researchers will provide insights into the nervous system and brain mechanisms of learning and will also present and discuss the latest research approaches.
Author and TV host Andrea Grießmann will emcee the evening. Admission is free. Registration is requested. After registering you will receive a link to the livestream via email.
