Can artificial intelligence save the climate? How does AI change science and politics, work, and how we deal with each other? At this year’s Hamburger Horizonte series from 9–14 October, representatives from the world of academia, politics, the media, and civil society will discuss how AI affects us all. The focus is on worries and hopes, chances and challenges associated with this new technology.
The interactive program with discussions, workshops, and tours offers a broad spectrum of topics from art to climate, and from medicine to cyber security. Come and discover new options of learning and getting involved besides well-known formats! There will be a pub quiz and science slam featuring various stakeholders.
The University of Hamburg takes part in a range of events. On 25 October, a team from the IT-Management and Consulting (ITMC) working group headed by Prof. Dr. Thilo Böhmann, vice president of the University, will offer a prompt-a-thon at the University with tips and tricks for everyday use of AI at work and a practical exercise for teams.
Both the panel discussion “Dr. Algorithmus” on 4 November with, among others, Prof. Dr. Jan Baumbach and Prof. Dr. Christian Gerlach, medical director of the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE), and the event “KI am UKE” on 10 October will concentrate on AI in medicine. On 5 November, an interactive lecture with, among others, Prof. Dr. Judith Möller, will shed light on using generative AI as a source of information in politics. Finally, at the senate reception on 14 November, Prof. Dr. Judith Simon will give a keynote speech on how AI impacts politics.
The Körber-Stiftung, the Hamburg Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), and the University of Hamburg welcome anyone interested to take part and get involved. Events and activities are held in different locations throughout Hamburg. The offers are free but require registration.
