Suddenly summer: In picture-perfect weather, several thousand employees, students, and guests from the neighborhood took the chance to catch up with the University’s current topics and celebrate into the wee hours at this year’s campus party.

You could see happy faces everywhere, as people enjoyed a great mix of opportunities for exchange, hands-on activities, as well as culinary and live music delights. From 2 pm, the public was invited to explore current University topics and new projects and exchange ideas between the AStA information café and Pantherwiese: What opportunities does New Work offer? How is the twin transformation of sustainability and digitalization developing? Or, what’s new at Science City Hamburg-Bahrenfeld?

Among other things, activities included University Sports; the AStA fleamarket; lectures, discussions, and workshops on sustainability at the Tiny House provided by the Sustainability Office. The colorful program offered interesting and fun activities for all guests and age-groups. Children were invited to learn more about plants while making seed bombs and could let off steam on the bouncy castle provided by Altona’s volunteer fire department.

It got quite crowded at the biodiversity booth, where guests could hone their nest box building skills. Keep an eye out for bird boxes on campus that bear the Universität Hamburg branding stamp. As temperatures were hitting 30 degrees, it took a bit of luck to secure a shady spot for cooling down and enjoying the various refreshments, vegetarian burgers, or wraps provided by Studierendenwerk Hamburg.

In front of the Audimax, people rocked the large dance floor. Regional artists covered various music genres, including singer-songwriter Lara Hulo, the band Olauka, and DJ set Bizarro Universe, who turned campus into one big open-air party stage. It was a great party and we can’t wait until it’s campus fest again, next summer!
