In 2019 the University will be celebrating its 100th anniversary. On 28 March 1919 Hamburg Parliament resolved to establish the Hamburgische Universität. The celebration depends upon the ideas and commitment of the University’s members, so we are inviting you to join our initial activities and projects.

Join us and share your anniversary ideas!

• Realize your own project! The success of the anniversary depends upon your creativity and commitment. University institutions can apply to a anniversary fund for financial support for their project ideas. There is also a student fund. Roughly 30 projects were granted funding in the first application round. Now University institutions can apply in the third and fourth application rounds. The deadline is 4 May 2018. The first round of the student fund runs until 1 April 2018. There will be a second round from 9 April to 15 May 2018.
• Tell your story! Academics; students; members of the technical, library, and administrative staffs; and alumni all have a special connection to their University and their own stories. Share your story, experiences, or anecdotes. These will become part of a University album entitled “100 Blickwinkel der Universität Hamburg” (100 Views of Universität Hamburg).
• Be inquisitive! In the weekly interview series “Die 100 großen Fragen des Lebens” (Life’s 100 Large Questions) published in the Hamburger Abendblatt, experts from Universität Hamburg answer major life questions. Read the interviews on Saturday or listen later to the podcast.
• Stay up to date! A new website posts information about all anniversary activities, exciting stories and information about the anniversary, and Universität Hamburg’s first 100 years.
