Joint PhD Student at Universität Hamburg & Macquarie University

After Prof. Mark Molloy (MQ) and my supervising Professor Hartmut Schlüter (HAM) agreed to start a cooperation, it was suggested that the samples I had prepared for my doctoral thesis be analyzed in Sydney. Mark then offered to let me spend two months in Sydney in order to test the samples myself under his supervision.

After my application was accepted, the funding process went smoothly, thanks to the ever-helpful project coordinator.

In Sydney, I was immediately integrated into the working group and had the opportunity to talk about my doctoral topics with many postdocs, from whom I received useful advice and suggestions. Furthermore, I learned about their procedures, which vary from lab to lab, and was able to apply my experiences to further investigations in Hamburg.

My stay in Sydney was a great experience and brought me a lot closer to my doctoral goals. Thanks to this visit, I have not only met new colleagues but also made a lot of new friends.
