Master Student at Universität Hamburg – Student Exchange to Macquarie University
As a Masters student at Universität Hamburg and a research assistant at the Research Centre Media History in Hamburg, I am part of the project “Transnational Media Histories”. As the first Master student to go abroad within this project, I studied in the Master of Future Journalism at Macquarie University and did research for my master’s thesis on a transnationally Australian-German topic: The History of the SBS German Language Program.
When I came to Sydney, I was involved in a workshop of the Centre for Media History which identified the importance of research in the field of media history and the keen interest in crossing borders to work on transnationally entangled media histories. In Australia, I did research to find out more about the beginnings of the SBS German Language Program and discovered a lot of material. I also participated in the Choir “Macquarie Singers Inc” and sang in the concert “Feast of Chorus” in June in the Sydney Opera House. During my stay, I travelled and visited Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road, the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns and went on a road trip in New Zealand. I had a great stay in Sydney. Many thanks to everyone who supported my stay.
