Risk Management

Long-term we plan to standardize risk management for a range of eventualities, e.g., extreme weather and major accidents. Universität Hamburg aims to develop a crisis plan, identifying organizational crossroads, linking them more effectively, and displaying emergency numbers on the University website. We have started by targeting international incoming students before expanding to include other groups. We are also creating a “best practice” guide for crisis management for fires, bomb threats, chemical accidents, and extreme weather, among other things.

During the second funding phase the University’s Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection Unit, and in particular a crisis management specialist has been involved. The aim is to share knowledge through a staff exchange and an additional workshop on the topic of crisis management at Macquarie University in 2019. This will be followed by a workshop at Universität Hamburg in 2020 to involve stakeholders from Fudan University and within Universität Hamburg.
