Virtual HNC Past Events
The virtual Hamburg Networking Conference's (HNC) aim is to provide a platform for all strategic and key international university partners to share experiences and insights on strategies for tackling the new demands on internationalization in academia. In short sessions we discuss best practice examples and aim to jointly develop sustainable ideas for international academic projects.
On 13, 20, and 27 May 2020 Universität Hamburg invited our international partners to the first three HNC virtual meetings on the topic: “New Demands on Internationalization: Exchanging Experiences during the Corona Pandemic”.
Representatives of twenty-four partner institutions engaged in the meeting series and 50 to 60 participants took part in each session. The meetings included short input presentations by experts from different institutions around the globe to contextualize the topic and issues. The presentations were followed by a discussion with the audience.
Since then the virtual HNC takes place on a regular basis.

This session of the virtual HNC focuses on two projects at Universität Hamburg's Faculty of Education which integrate international digital cooperation in teaching and learning into their courses. Both projects are part of the "International Virtual Academic Collaboration (IVAC)" program, a funding line by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
During the Corona pandemic many universities expanded their range of digital teaching and learning courses. In order to anchor this digitalization push in international university cooperation, the DAAD has selected around 50 projects for the IVAC program line, which is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with around 5.5 million euros until the end of 2021.
