Minors in bachelor of arts degree programs
Minors at Universität Hamburg are offered only in BA programs. Bachelor’s programs that do not offer minors are: Bachelor of Arts in Sign Language Interpreting, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Arts in Socioeconomics, and Bachelor of Arts in the Economy and Culture of China.
In bachelor of arts programs, you can choose subjects marked “ja” (“yes”) in the column “NF” (“minor”) in the overview of bachelor’s programs in the electronic course catalog. The following restrictions with regard to combining subjects apply:
- Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies: You cannot combine the different areas of concentration as a major and minor.
- Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies: You cannot combine the different areas of concentration as a major and minor.
All other combinations are possible.
You must choose the minor when you apply for a degree program. When applying, you can choose up to and prioritize 3 minors. Find more information about choosing a minor when you apply under “Bewerbung” (“Applying”).
Bachelor of science programs do not offer minors. In a few cases, however, you can choose a supplementary subject. Supplementary subjects are generally less intensive than minors. Nor do you choose them when you apply for a degree program but only in the course of your studies.
