100 Years Universität Hamburg – Language and Cultural Events organized by the Language Center to celebrate this anniversary

Universität Hamburg is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019. For this festive occasion, the Language Center is hosting several events revolving around the topics of language and culture. Celebrate with us!

Writing competition: Universität Hamburg in the past, present and future

As a kick-off, we start with a writing competition featuring all the languages the Language Center offers. Students and staff can submit texts on the past, present or future of the university. Please only submit texts that you wrote yourself and that have not been published before.

There are some cool prizes to be won and we will publish the best 100 texts in our anniversary publication.

All text types are welcome: poems, prose, non-fiction, reports, memories, etc.

You could, for example, write about a positive experience you have had at the university, or why you liked a certain class that you took, what you enjoy about your studies, a lecture that you enjoyed, what other things the university has to offer you particularly like; or you could write a historical treatise, etc.

Languages: English, German as a Foreign Language, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Portuguese

Deadline: January 7th, 2019

Format: Word document, typeface Arial, font size 12, double spacing, maximum 3 pages, default margins

 

Language and cultural event in June 2019

In 2019, the university’s anniversary year, we continue our celebration with an event full of language and culture, organized by lecturers and students of the Language Center. Don’t miss our short theater sketches in English or the poetry slam in German as well as lots of music, food, and fun.
