The European Research Council funded project, “Slow Motion: Transformations of Musical Time in Perception and Performance/SloMo” examines slow motion stylistic devices in films and dance performances —to explore what effect this has on the audience’s perception of time. One symposium highlights the theories and methods of current research.
Taking place on the 29 and 30 November at the Institute of Systematic Musicology, the symposium will investigate how watching human movement distorts the perception of time, and on rhythmic interaction in dance in the form of synchronization, coordination, and timing.
