(Bi-lingual workshop)
This workshop is primarily aimed at doctoral students who would like to take part in the fifth Hamburg Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT) on 9 September 2025. Speakers will be given preference when allocating workshop places, therefore you can only register for the waiting list. Further information on the competition will follow soon.
At events such as the Three Minute Thesis competition or the Science Slam, doctoral students from all disciplines present their research in a short format. The presentations should be entertaining and informative.
In this workshop, you will gain an insight into methods with which you can present complex topics in a simplified way and make a personal connection to the topic. This will teach you how to attract the attention of your audience and keep it awake so that the content sticks. In addition, you will learn how to present complex contexts in different scenarios in such a way that they are understandable for the respective audience. Through preparatory group work and several individual feedback rounds, we ensure that you learn in a practice-oriented way, prepare the basics of a popular science presentation in terms of slide design and storytelling during the workshop and gain practical presentation experience. In the afternoons, you will have the opportunity to independently implement and refine the ideas developed in the morning.
