The new MBA program integrates the practical experiences of its students.

The MBA program is suitable for university graduates in all subject areas who would like, for example, to gain qualifications for management and leadership responsibilities in companies, consultancy agencies, associations, or the public sector. While working, they can build upon their previous training and gain practical, comprehensive knowledge of management.

The new MBA program was conceived by Prof. Dr. Dirk Ulrich Gilbert, the academic director for continuing education at Universität Hamburg and academic program director of the new MBA program, together with the Center for Continuing Education (ZfW). “Thanks to its research orientation, the Master of Business Administration in General Management ensures that students learn current and relevant management methods; by including the practical experience of students into teaching, it also ensures theoretical depth and applicability. This MBA prepares students for the challenges of a dynamic job in small and large companies and other organizations. It provides the tools for mastering these challenges even when they are highly complex, and the tools for managing and making decisions in the context of rapid change,” explains Gilbert.

A team of professors at Universität Hamburg and other leading universities will teach. They bring top-level-research and practical experience in many areas of management.

Admission requirements for the program are a university degree in any subject area and at least one year of professional experience. Students will discuss different issues related to professional practice and be encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary exchange and to reflect with the goal of helping them to apply their knowledge to their own professional lives. This part-time program is 3 semesters and concludes with a master’s thesis. The seminars take place in person at Universität Hamburg and via Zoom.

The new Master of Business Administration in General Management begins in November 2024. The application deadline is 15 July 2024. On 25 October 2023 at 6:30 pm, the Center for Continuing Education (ZfW) is holding an online information session, where the academic program director Prof. Dr. Gilbert will provide a detailed explanation of the program concept, curriculum, objectives, target group, and admission requirements.
