The HALRIC research alliance is a unique project to promote life sciences collaboration in northern Germany and Scandinavia. From 24–25 September 2024, the consortium holds this year’s conference in Bahrenfeld. All interested researchers are welcome to join and exchange ideas with the community.
Founded in 2023, the Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium (HALRIC) brings together universities, clinics, research institutions, economic clusters, and regional governments from Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. The University of Hamburg, the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), the X-Ray Laser European XFEL, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf all represent the Hamburg Metropolitan Region within the project funded by the European Union.
This year, the Science City Bahrenfeld will also be hosting the conference. Representatives from all 21 HALRIC partner institutions will meet to talk, connect, and share experiences. The focus is on life sciences—HALRIC’s core subject. The term “life sciences” refers to interdisciplinary application-oriented research in the natural sciences, for instance, medical technology, biotechnology, or pharmacy.
Insight and exchange
At the conference participants will gain insight into various HALRIC projects. There will also be discussions on a range of research aspects and topics. Prof. Dr. Hauke Heekeren, president of the University of Hamburg, and Katharina Fegebank, second mayor of Hamburg and senator with the Ministry of Science, Research, Equalities and Districts, will give opening speeches. Prof. Dr. Laura Marie Edinger-Schons, chief sustainability officer for Universität Hamburg, will give the keynote speech.
Researchers from all disciplines are invited to exchange with peers and explore possibilities for cooperation at the conference. The event is free but you need to register.
More details on the program and on registration are available on the HALRIC website.
