Funding is available for women researchers and students with a bachelor's degree or at a more advanced stage of their studies as well as graduates and employees at the University of Hamburg.

With the funding program EXIST-Women, the University of Hamburg supports women entrepreneurs and independent businesswomen. In 2025, 10 scholarships will be awarded again to help women in all subjects as they foster and realize their entrepreneurial dreams. Applications for the first round can be submitted until 27 January 2025.

The funding targets women researchers and students who have completed a bachelor's degree or advanced studies as well as graduates and employees at the University of Hamburg. A concrete start-up idea is not a requirement. “The offer is not limited to specific areas. It is more about cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit,” says Prof. Dr. Michel Clement from the University of Hamburg Business School. He submitted the EXIST-Women application together with Frauke Nesemann, Head of Innovation and Technology Management, and other members of staff from Uthe University of Hamburg's Knowledge Exchange Agency.

The project supplements existing projects such as Potential lift and the EXIST collaborative project Startup Port.The EXIST scholarships are different because they also target projects that are not academic or research-based. They only have to involve an entrepreneurial goal.

Besides the financial support, participants benefit from an accompanying program to provide further qualifications, coaching, and mentoring by experienced female entrepreneurs. The program also offers access to a nationwide network of female entrepeneurs to share experiences.
