Successful day with information for prospective studentsUnitag 2024: Talks Now Online
7 March 2024, by Newsroom editorial office
The Unitag in February 2024 was a huge success. More than 14,900 high schoolers learned about Universität Hamburg’s degree programs. Now many of the talks and a new page with information for prospective students are online. There are also more offers on site.
Talks, individual advising, tours, and Q&A sessions—at Unitag there were over 160 events and activities for high-school students on more than 170 degree programs, the application process, and campus life. Visitors gained an impression of what it means to be a university student and how the various degree programs are designed.
They also had an opportunity to review their own expectations and to see how their interests and curricula weigh up. This was one of many important measures, for example for teacher training programs, Prof. Dr. Natalia Filatkina, vice president of studies and teaching, told Hamburg Journal: “For teacher training, we have a relatively high rate of drop-outs that we definitely want to reduce. And one measure we hope will be successful is orientation before studying.”
Some of the Unitag talks were recorded and are now online, for example, “Lehramt studieren für die Sekundarstufe I und II,” “Der hochschulübergreifende Studiengang Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen,” or “Im Studium ins Ausland: Dein Kick fürs Leben!”. More will follow.
More offers: new website for prospective students and open seminars
Furthermore, just in time for the Winter Semester 2024/25 application process starting on 1 June, there is a new overview for all prospective students: this contains important information about degree programs, conditions for studying at Universität Hamburg, the application process, and helpful advising services.
There are also more opportunities on site: at the Institute of Human Movement Science, high schoolers have 4 opportunities in April to attend a class. Gymnasium students in the 11th to 13th grades and accompanied by a teacher can observe classes in dance and target sports as well as 2 lectures to gain a first impression of the curriculum.
