PhD Candidate at Macquarie University – Research Stay at Universität Hamburg
Last year, I met Dr Hans-Ulrich Wagner following a lecture at Macquarie University, and we soon got to know each other discussing the transnational nature of my research, of which Germany forms a key part. It was soon apparent that the trilateral research agreement between Macquarie, Hamburg and Fudan in conjunction with the funding provided by DAAD could make it possible for me to conduct thorough research into German media from Germany itself.
My time in Hamburg was fantastic. Working with the amazing and hospitable staff at the University of Hamburg was eye opening and enlightening, because through working together and discussing our fields of research gave me new and valuable perspective on my own work and the field as a whole. Hamburg is a beautiful city, with centuries of history, as well as fantastic local food and culture. If anyone has the chance to work there, I would highly recommend it.
