The project eLBase1, funded by the E-Learning Consortium Hamburg (ELCH), was carried out from July 1, 2008, to November 15, 2011, jointly by the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities, and the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences, in collaboration with the Executive Board of the University of Hamburg.

The aim of eLBase1 was to achieve the sustainable integration of digital media into all core processes of teaching and learning at the participating faculties and thereby effectively advance the implementation of the eLearning strategy formulated by the University of Hamburg in 2006. eLearning offerings were intended to be integrated as a standard component of the Student Life Cycle in curricula and examination regulations. The project eLBase1 served as an important catalyst for integrating improved organizational and support structures for eLearning into the studies of the participating faculties.

The measures implemented addressed the changes brought about by the introduction of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs and contributed to securing the attractiveness of the Hamburg higher education location in the long term.

The project ePUSH, funded by the E-Learning Consortium Hamburg (ELCH) at the Faculty of Education, Psychology, and Movement Science, was conducted from October 2007 to September 2009.

The goal was to raise awareness among educators and learners about the potential uses of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in studies and teaching and to promote a natural handling of ICT.

To achieve this, innovative teaching methods were supported and developed, community building was encouraged, and suitable infrastructures were created. Therefore, ePUSH encompassed all action levels from the organization of learning content, learning formats, and learning communities to the organizational infrastructure.

Through the project Beluga, funded by the E-Learning Consortium Hamburg (11/2007 - 10/2009), a research platform was developed that connects learning management systems such as OLAT, CommSy, or Moodle with library catalogs, allowing information about books and other literature to be automatically exported into eLearning environments.

Additionally, the goal was to establish a service that makes scientific literature available in electronic form: printed texts are digitized exclusively for individual courses as needed and made accessible in the desired learning environment. Furthermore, the new research platform features several Web 2.0 typical functionalities.

As part of the grant initiative "Seminars Online" funded by tuition fees at the University of Hamburg, ideas for innovative teaching approaches and the enhancement of courses through digital media were supported from 2007 to 2011.

The goals pursued with the project were to improve the quality of the offered courses, to promote interdisciplinary and cross-faculty concepts, to attract and support new eLearning stakeholders, and to transition the projects into sustainable use.

The collaborative project, funded by the BMBF for two and a half years (2005 - 2007), aimed to effectively network, coordinate, and enhance the existing resources and expertise for digital learning (eLearning) across Hamburg's universities in order to achieve a sustainable improvement in quality and service for students and educators.

As part of KoOP, a holistic innovation strategy was pursued that takes into account technical, organizational, cultural, and didactic aspects. By designing and gradually implementing innovative processes for the sustainable use and dissemination of eLearning, while considering the necessary IT infrastructure, the goal was to make eLearning a standard offering in teaching and administration at Hamburg's universities in the medium to long term.
