The position focuses on financial geography, assetisation, critical housing market research and urban geography. You will be involved in a DFG-funded project ‘Making markets, transforming student cities: The rise of purpose-built student accommodation in Germany and the Netherlands’ (StudentCities), which analyses the development of profit-oriented student accommodation in Germany and the Netherlands from an economic and urban geography perspective. The research pursues a relational-comparative approach that analyses both the (transnational) networks of key players in profit-oriented student accommodation and location-based urban policy. In this way, it contributes to academic debates on the financialisation of student housing.
You can realise an independent dissertation research related to this project. We offer you the opportunity to take part in high-ranking national and international conferences and workshops.
You will be an active member of Prof. Dr. Jana Kleibert's working group. In addition to your research activities in the DFG project ‘StudentCities’, you will also be actively involved in teaching. The position is partially funded by equal opportunities funding and includes teaching activities of 2 hours teaching per week (LVS) in human geography.
