If you already have skills in the language you want to learn but have neither taken a course in that language in the last twelve months nor taken a placement test, you must take a placement test.
After you have taken a placement test, a certificate will be sent out to you by email. You must submit this certificate together with the online registration form. The placement certificate does not constitute registration or confirmation of course participation.
Placement certificates and equivalent certificates from cultural or language institutes are recognized for twelve months. A certificate of participation in a language course in the VHS program is not recognized as a placement certificate.
Advanced courses are marked as (A)1/2, (A)1/3, A2, A2/1, A2/2, A2/3, B1, B1/1, B1/2, B1/3, I/2, I/3, II/1, II/2, II/3, III/1, III/2 and III/3. The pdf "Wege durch die Niveaustufen der Allgemeinsprachen" provides further information.
Please note: If advanced courses cannot accommodate the number of registrations, placements will be determined by lottery.
