2015
- Start of the preliminary project for the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU) in collaboration with all public universities in Hamburg.
- Establishment of the focus area Digitalization of Teaching and Learning (DLL) at the Interdisciplinary Center for University Teaching and Learning (IZuLL) (since 01.08.2015: Hamburger Zentrum für Universitäres Lehren und Lernen (HUL)); the existing Central eLearning Office at the Presidency of the University of Hamburg is transferred to the new institution.
2014
- Relaunch of the eLearning portal to align with the new web design of the University of Hamburg and for the first time as a joint portal for all eLearning institutions.
2013
- Implementation of the stabilization of eLearning structures based on the presidential decision of 2012.
- Foundation of the extended eLearning network (eLearning institutions of the University of Hamburg, Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg, Center for Higher Education and Continuing Education, Office for Academic Continuing Education, Multimedia Kontor Hamburg).
- Publication of the 10th Hamburg eLearning Magazine.
- Third eLearning funding program at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.
2012
- Resolution of the presidency of the University of Hamburg to stabilize the central-decentralized eLearning structures.

- Completion of the projects eLBase1 and ePUSH.
- Fifth and final small project funding round "Seminars Online at the University of Hamburg."
- Second eLearning funding program at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.
2010
- Introduction of the integrated ePortfolio in OLAT.
- Fourth funding round for small projects "Seminars Online at the University of Hamburg."
- In addition to the central project funding "Seminars Online at the University of Hamburg," the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences launches its own funding program totaling €20,000.
- Introduction of the first lecture hall voting system ("clicker") at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.
- OLAT User Day 2010 at the University of Hamburg.

- Introduction of the central Learning Management System OLAT.
- Establishment of eLearning offices at the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Humanities, and the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences as part of the eLearning structural project eLBase1.
- Adoption of the "Structure and Development Plan (STEP) 2012" of the University of Hamburg, including the sub-goals "Promotion of eCompetence" and "Integration of eLearning into Teaching" (PDF download).

- Start of eLearning structural projects eLBase1 (consortium project of the presidency and four participating faculties) and ePUSH at the Faculty of Education, Psychology, and Movement Science funded by the E-Learning Consortium Hamburg (ELCH).
- Establishment of the Central eLearning Office and the eLearning Office of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences as part of the eLearning structural project eLBase1.
- Introduction of the lecture recording system Lecture2Go by the Media Competence Center (MCC) of the Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg.
- Completion and publication of the results of the KoOP project under the title "Didactics and IT Service Management for Universities" as a reference framework for the quality assurance and development of eLearning offerings (PDF download).

- Start of the project "KoOP - Conceptualization and Realization of Cross-University Organizational and Process Innovations for Digital Learning at Hamburg's Universities," a collaborative project funded by the BMBF for the period 2005-2007 as part of the "New Media in Education - E-Learning Services for Science" program.
2003
- Initial provision of a centrally offered Learning Management System (WebCT, later Blackboard) by the Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg.
- Establishment of a support and qualification position as part of the introduction of WebCT at the Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg, funded by the project "Online Learning in Management (OLIM)" of the Office for Academic Continuing Education (AWW).
2002
- Launch of the special program "eLearning and Multimedia in Higher Education" by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (2002-2010): funding of strategy and content projects as well as small project funding in a total of four calls for proposals. (More

- Foundation of the Multimedia Kontor Hamburg (MMKH) and the E-Learning Consortium Hamburg (ELCH), among others to implement the special program "eLearning and Multimedia in Higher Education."
2000
- Start of the four-year funding program "New Media in Education - Universities" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research: the University of Hamburg was involved in a total of twelve projects as a consortium leader or project partner.
1999
- Beginning of the programming of the communication platform CommSy as part of a student project; the platform is now widely used at the University of Hamburg and other public Hamburg universities and schools as a communication and simple entry platform.
